MUMBAI: The Indian entertainment space is currently witnessing an interesting curve with the booming of digital media. Off late, all the big names are diving into new media. Joining the league is production firm M.B. Arts. TellyChakkar has exclusive information that the production house is working on a digital series. Titled IPC 376, the show will focus on the Indian rape culture and its victims.
The venture will be helmed by a new director named Tan. The makers have roped in quite a few popular names for the project, which deals with societal issues.
Gurleen Chopra, 27, plays the leading lady in the project. Gurleen has been part of various Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, and Punjabi films.
Talented actor Abhimanyu Singh, who has been appreciated for his work in films like Ram Leela (2013) and Mom (2017), is the male lead. He will be playing Chopra’s on-screen husband. Singh, 42, will make his digital debut with this project. The actor, who hails from Bihar, has won awards for his performance in Gulaal (2009).
TV actor, Anas Khan essays the role of Gurleen’s lover. The Saath Nibhaana Saathiya star is the parallel lead. The actor has been off the screen for quite some time and will return to acting after a brief hiatus.
Apart from the trio, known actors like Ehsaan Khan, veteran comedian Mushtaq Khan (best known for Welcome), Rajsi Verma, and Anupama Dahal are a part of the digital series.
The show will go on floors soon, and the makers will shortly finalize a digital platform to stream it.
Confirming the news, director Tan said, “The script is different and based on the Indian Penal Code 376, which is the code for Rape. And it’s amazing working with such talented and big stars,’ he said.
