Hansal Mehta reacts Sarcastically for Alia Bhat and Hrithik Roshan's invitation to Oscars 2021

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta reacts to Alia Bhatt and Hritik Roshan getting an invitation to Oscars2021 and takes a dig at nepotism.

MUMBAI: There was a recent announcement made by the Academy that the Oscars 2021 would be postponed by 2 months owing to the Coronavirus pandemic.Also the  Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences issued that this year there would be extending invitations upto 819 artists and executives. They also mentioned that the 2020 class will have 45% women,  36% underrepresented ethnic/racial communities, and 49% international from 68 countries. 

Alia Bhatt, Hrithik Roshan and other executives have reportedly been invited from India. For this, filmmaker Hansal Mehta has a say on it

Hansal Mehta took to his twitter handle and took a sarcastic dig on Alia and Hrithik being invited to the 2021 Oscars. When a twitter user asked him about his take on the list of invites from India, he sarcastically replied to it by saying " NepotisticAcademy". This was amidst the nepotism debate that stirred up the industry and Hansal Mehta gave his  take on it by retweeting a user's question and replying to it as above mentioned.

The question asked by a twitter user was, "Alia Bhatt, Hrithik Roshan, casting director Nandini Shrikent, Neeta Lulla, Shirley Abraham, Amit Madheshiya, Nishtha Jain, Vishal Anand and Sandeep Kamal (visual effects), Sabrina Dhawan, V Senthil Kumar feature in @TheAcademy’s invitee list.”

Apart from Alia and Hrithik, costume designer Neeta Lulla, casting director Nandini Shrikent, documentary filmmakers Nishtha Jain, Shirley Abraham, Amit Madheshiya, visual effects supervisors Vishal Anand and Sandeep Kamal, Sabrina Dhawan, V Senthil Kumar are also among the 819 artistes and executives who have received the invitations for the upcoming 93rd Academy Awards. Oscars 2021 will take place on April 25, 2021, while the nominations will be announced on March 15, 2021.
