Heropanti fame Dev Sharma’s next based in Jharkhand; ‘Sai Baba’ Mukul Nag turns negative

 Dev Sharma

MUMBAI: The good-looking Dev Sharma gained prominence with his brief role in Yaariyan (2014) and Heropanti (2014). After being a part of several movies, the handsome actor will be seen in romantic drama based against the backdrop of Jharkhand.

TellyChakkar’s reliable source reveals that Binay Mehta and Umesh Rana, under their banner Johar Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., are working on a venture that will take the audience through the interiors of rural Jharkhand. The movie, titled O Piya, is directed by Rajesh Mishra. Rajesh has been an assistant director for various Indian and international projects, and this will be his directorial debut. His repertoire also includes the iconic Reporters, which featured Shekhar Suman.

Dev plays the lead character Kaushal, who is searching for the right girl. Opposite him would be fresh face Smriti Kashyap, who will also make her acting début with this project.

Interestingly, for the negative role, the makers have roped in actor Mukul Nag. Best known for his titular role in 2006’s daily Sai Baba, Mukul has a strong character in the story and will be the antagonist in the couple’s life. Theatre artist Seema Modi will essay the role of Sharma’s mother.

The shooting will go on floors soon.

When we contacted Dev, he confirmed the news, ‘My character is something really interesting and at the same time quite relatable. All his friends are settling down, while he is waiting for the right girl to come in his life. Finally, he meets with his soul mate but with dire consequences. I’m really excited since I’m also the lead, so a lot of responsibility.’

With a social message amidst romance, this project sure sounds interesting.
