MUMBAI: Following the lackluster performance of Aamir Khan's last cinematic venture, "Laal Singh Chaddha," the actor's former spouse, Kiran Rao, delves into the aftermath of the film's box office failure and its profound effect on the Bollywood icon.
In a candid interview with Zoom, Kiran Rao shared insights into Aamir Khan's emotional state post the underwhelming reception of "Laal Singh Chaddha," emphasizing the depth of disappointment felt by the entire team. She revealed, "It is really disheartening when you put in all the efforts, and it doesn’t work. Which happened with Laal Singh Chaddha. It definitely affected Aamir quite deeply, it affected all of us."
Detailing the extensive journey behind the creation of "Laal Singh Chaddha," Kiran Rao underscored the significance of the project to Aamir Khan, describing it as a labor of love that had been years in the making. "He had been working to get the rights of the film for a decade before we made it. It was disappointing," she remarked, highlighting the emotional investment and aspirations associated with the film.
Despite the film's lukewarm reception, Kiran Rao expressed gratitude for the positive response garnered on social media. However, she acknowledged the reality of the situation, stating, "We do have to accept the fact that people didn’t like it or didn’t want to see it."
