Divyendu Sharma has come up the hard way. From struggling for roles in small films to getting accepted as a mainstream hero, Divyendu is a striking example of a small town boy making his mark in the highly competitive world of Bollywood.
What's laudable is the fact that Divyendu has made it on his own terms without the help of any godfather. Ask him if he ever rues the absence of any godfather in his acting life, Divyendu says, "The best thing about not having a godfather is that you can stand and face any difficult situation like a man. Finally, when you make it big no one can point fingers at you and say that he or she got you the position you are currently at. You will be a self made man."
Having graduated from FTII, Divyendu initially made a mark with comic roles and have often been praised for his innate sense of comic timing. However, the actor doesn't exactly feel at home with comic roles and considers drama as his forte. "When I came here, I thought I will do drama but landed comic roles which worked well for me. I am always looking to do something different and my role in Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami is something that I have been looking forward to since long.”
Elaborating on his bonding with co-actor Anupam Kher, Divyendu says, "Anupam sir never throws his weight around of being a senior actor. He is extremely easy to bond with and I can proudly say that he is today a good friend of mine."
Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami (Nautanki Films) will open in cinema screens across India on 10 October. It’s a must watch.
