2016 is not very good for couples, it seems. The latest pair to call it quits after 16 years of marriage is actor-director Farhan Akhtar and his hairstylist wife Adhuna.
Even though there were many rumors doing the rounds about their impending split, it was only after Farhan moved out of their house to his sister Zoya Akhtar’s pad that the reports have been confirmed.
In a joint statement to the media, the two said, "This is to announce that we, Adhuna and Farhan, have mutually and amicably decided to separate. Our children remain our priority and it is immensely important to us, as responsible parents, that they be protected from unwarranted speculation and public glare. We sincerely request that we are given the privacy that is required at this time to move forward in a dignified manner.”
The reason for the split is not known, but there was a blind item on a popular site, which hinted at Farhan’s alleged closeness to his co-star from one of his recent movies. It could completely be a promotional piece or could be true.
The dashing duo met during Farhan’s directorial debut Dil Chahta Hai and married post a whirlwind romance.
The two, who have collaborated on many projects, have two children together. Adhuna has also been Farhan’s hairstylist in most of his movies. Will their professional life be affected as well? Only time will tell.
