MUMBAI: Following a Telugu film industry tradition, Amitabh Bachchan received the first-day, first-show ticket of the Nag Ashwin-directed picture at the spectacular promotional event for their upcoming film Kalki 2898 AD, which is produced by C Aswani Dutt of Vijayanthi Films. In exchange, Bachchan gave his "friend and brother," co-star Kamal Haasan, the ticket.

Kamal related a story about his experience working as a film technician on Amitabh's Sholay (1975) and having to wait three weeks to see the movie. Kamal expressed his happiness and honor at receiving the ticket directly from Amitabh.

Kamal revealed, “I wish this had happened four to five decades ago as I waited for three weeks to watch Sholay. I hope there are many more fans who must be waiting for weeks to see the film like I did for Sholay. I never thought I’ll get the first day first show ticket from Mr Amitabh Bachchan. I was a film technician and now I’m an actor, and nothing much has changed.”

The veteran shared his experience on working in the film saying, “We had a lot to talk about (through the look), and also not look like something else that I had done already or somebody else has done already. I thought I had a fantastic idea and I had not seen any images of the film. So, I thought I would dress myself up in such a way that people will turn around and look at me. I was like, ‘I’ll do research’, and I got to know that Amit ji is doing it. Then I thought, I’ll come with an armour, to which I was told that Prabhas has got that (referring to Deepika Padukone’s character). I didn’t want to be pregnant in the film, otherwise I would’ve tried that as well.”

Opening up about his look in the film, Kamal said, “This get up took a lot of time. We traveled to LA, we failed a couple of times before we arrived on the acceptable look. So, it’s a collaboration, and I hope the audience will react the same way we did when we saw the first look.”
