MUMBAI: Actress Rachna Shyam will soon be seen on the big screen playing the titular role in KC Bokadia’s Teesri Begum. The story depicts a Rajput girl who marries her love and falls prey to the Love Jihad conspiracy realizing she married a man who is already married twice and she is the third wife aka Teesri Begum.

Rachna who is still a fresher in the industry believes that Love Jihad is a very sensitive topic and needs to be handled delicately. Ask her about her brave choice and she explains, “KC Sir is an industry veteran and when I went to meet him for narration, I was very sure that I will take up any role that he offers. He narrated a real life story of a Muslim family based out of Lucknow. He mentioned that this is one of the many stories that never come to spotlight and he wanted to narrate it to a larger audience in his style. Teesri Begum offered me a pivotal role, a compelling story and an underlying action; all of which under the able guidance of KC Bokadia sir was hard to refuse.”

The story is a different take of what happens after and hence Rachna adds that the story is inspiring and comes with a strong message. “I personally believe that movies are not just a medium of entertainment but also a platform to share stories that convey a message. With Teesri Begum, I wanted to be that source who says this story and sets an example. The story is about falling in love, failing in love and then standing up for yourself. There is a message to all the girls out there to be brave and bold, to fall in love but not blindly; to stand up for oneself and for what is right. And finally its human to err, but once you realize your mistake, just rectify it without resorting to simpler solutions like living with it or committing suicide” insists Rachna.

Directed by KC Bokadia; Teesri Begum is Rachna Shyam’s second movie. Her debut movie Red Collar opposite South Star Kishore Kumar G, directed by Chandrashekhar Bandiyappa is slated to release soon too.
