'Almost Famous' to turn into stage musical
The hit comedy film Almost Famous released in 2000 will now turn into a musical performance.
According to rollingstone.com, it will feature music by composer Tom Kitt, who previously scored "Next to normal" and "Bring it on".
Excited about the stage adaptation, director Cameron Crowe said, "It feels like a new adventure, a natural progression but still true to the question that started it all. ‘What do you love about music?' Can't wait to bring it to you in the coming months."
Almost Famous is loosely based on Crowe's experience as a teenager writing for Rolling Stone in the early '70s. Actor Patrick Fugit plays the 15-year-old journalist who follows the rock band Stillwater to write a cover story for the magazine.
Crowe is currently writing the book for the musical with Jeremy Herrin directing the show.
Becoming actress my childhood dream: Lady Gaga
Singer-actress Lady Gaga has revealed that she always dreamt of being an actress.
Gaga spoke about her acting dreams at the premiere of her forthcoming film A Star Is Born, reports suggest so.
Talking about the film and the team, Gaga said, "The most challenging part of this process for me was being as vulnerable as the character needed... but Bradley Cooper (co-star) made me feel so comfortable.
"He challenged me in ways I've never been challenged before and I am so, so grateful to him for that."
Gaga has also featured in films like Machete Kills and Sin City: Dame to Kill For.
Ellen DeGeneres scares 'Modern Family' cast
The cast of Modern Family was given a pre-Halloween fright courtesy TV personality Ellen DeGeneres.
The incident happened when Ed O'Neill, Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould and Rico Rodriguez appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday.
During the interview, DeGeneres shared a video of Stonestreet scaring the cast on the set of the sitcom, reports suggest so.
In the footage, the actor is seen hiding in the parking lot of the production and shouting "boo!" as Bowen and O'Neil arrive for work. He also sneaks into the make-up trailer, causing Vergara to shriek. When he does the same to Burrell, however, he remains unfazed, simply reacting with, "Hey, Eric", without looking up.
In a later segment, DeGeneres gives the entire cast a jump, having someone in a clown costume emerge from a box as the group assembles for a photograph.
The special episode also looked back at 10 years of the Modern Family, which is aired in India on Star World.
‘Happy Death Day' sequel gets a title
The sequel of the 2017 hit thriller film Happy Death Day has been titled Happy Death 2U.
Being directed and penned by Christopher Landon, the film features original lead Jessica Rothe, reports suggest so.
The plot details have not been revealed much, though a synopsis said Rothe will discover that "dying over and over was surprisingly easier than the dangers that lie ahead".
The original part, which garnered over $122 million worldwide on a reported $4.8 million budget, follows young co-ed Tree (Rothe) who awakens from a one-night stand and slinks off into a daylong birthday celebration, only to be brutally murdered at a party that evening. Instead of the afterlife, however, she reawakens once again on the stranger's bed and is forced to relive the same events "Groundhog Day."
Apart from Rothe, actors like Israel Broussard, Ruby Modine and Rachel Matthews will also star in the film
Childish Gambino postpones concert due to foot injury
Actor, rapper, writer and comedian Donald Glover, popularly known as Childish Gambino, will not be performing on the scheduled 'This Is America' tour due to foot injury.
Fam Rothstein, a co-principal of the creative agency Wolf + Rothstein, revealed the news after The Forum tweeted that Gambino's show at the Forum had been postponed, reports suggest so.
"'This is America' tour is postponed, not cancelled. My guy played through the pain, but has to sit some dates out. Back before the years over," Rothstein tweeted.
The news arrives after Gambino was forced to cut short his Dallas concert on 23 September due to a foot injury. The "Atlanta" creator was said to leave the American Airlines Center stage 30 minutes before his show was due to end and didn't return.
An official at the venue had told tmz.com that Gambino "broke his foot", while one concert-goer said that he was attempting to do the splits and hurt himself in the process.
Gambino was initially scheduled to wrap the tour at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on 12 October. It remains unclear now when the tour will be concluded. The tour will be his last as Childish Gambino.
Lil Yachty to star in 'How High 2'
Rapper Lil Yachty has been cast in the lead role of the film How High 2.
The film began production in Atlanta. It is a follow up to the 2001 stoner comedy How High starring Method Man and Redman. It will premiere on MTV in 2019, reports suggest so.
Lil Yachty plays Roger, an entrepreneur and the younger brother of one of the protagonists from the original film. As per the official description by network, Roger and his friend go "on a magical hash-fuelled journey to fund their on-demand munchies delivery start-up."
This will not be Lil Yacthy's first acting role. He previously appeared as himself in an episode of George Lopez's TV Land series Lopezand provided the voice for Green Lantern in the hit animated film Teen Titans Go! To the Movies.
How High 2 is written by Alex Blagg, Neel Shah, Shawn Ries, and Artie Johann. It will be directed by Bruce Leddy.
Channing Tatum wants to experience 'Smallfoot' with daughter
Actor Channing Tatum feels Smallfoot is a clever story, and he would like to experience it with his daughter Everly.
"I love stories and myths, and I thought the way the filmmakers role-reversed the Bigfoot myth was really clever," Tatum said to leading publication.
"Also, I grew up on Looney Tunes and the Warner Bros. style of animation and physical comedy. I miss Wile E. Coyote, Bugs Bunny, and Tom and Jerry. So, when I heard about the plans for Smallfoot and how it would pay homage to that Looney Tunes style and comedy, I thought it could be a lot of fun," he added.
Smallfoot follows the story of a Yeti who sets out to prove humans are real. Tatum has given voice to the Yeti character Migo. Warner Bros Pictures is releasing the film in India on Friday.
"I want to experience this film with my daughter. But I know I'm going to have to trick her into seeing this with me because she doesn't like anything I appear in. I've got a plan to make sure she sees Smallfoot. I'm not telling her that I'm in the movie."
Khloe Kardashian 'misses being pregnant'
Reality TV personality Khloe Kardashian revealed that she misses her pregnancy phase because it gave her an excuse to be "antisocial".
The 34-year-old star, who gave birth to her daughter True - whom she has with her boyfriend Tristan Thompson - five months ago, said she misses the days before her child was born, reports dailymail.co.uk.
She took to Twitter and wrote, "I miss being pregnant for a few reasons but I really miss being pregnant because I used to have an excuse to be antisocial and go to bed early and not feel any type of way."
Khloe has quickly regained her pre-pregnancy figure.
Tom Hardy is a real movie star: Ruben Fleischer
Director Ruben Fleischer had fun working with Tom Hardy on Venom, and says he is an "all-time great actor".
Bringing one of the most enigmatic characters, the lethal protector, to the big screen, the film stars Hardy as Eddie Brock and as Venom.
"Tom is an all-time great actor, just so inherently talented and captivating on film. He's a real movie star, and he is in his prime right now, firing on all cylinders, and brings so much to every look, every moment, every detail, every word," Fleischer said in a statement to a leading publication.
"He's just really inspiring. And I think everybody on the crew is just fully invested in how he has chosen to realise Eddie Brock. And on top of all that, Tom is hilarious, and that was exactly what we needed to bring Venom to life for moviegoers," he added.
Venom was created in 1988 by Marvel Comics. The character made his big screen debut more than a decade ago in Sam Raimi'sSpider-Man 3, where he was portrayed by Topher Grace. The movie is intended to be the first film in Sony's Marvel Universe.
Venom also stars Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze and Reid Scott. It follows the popular Marvel anti-hero as he transforms from a go-getter journalist to powerful alien symbiote.
Sony Pictures India is bringing the film to the country. The film will release in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on 5 October.
'Sex and the City' helped people talk about their intimate lives: Sarah
Actress Sarah Jessica Parker says the Sex and the City franchise enabled people to talk about their intimate lives, who they authentically are and how they choose to live sexually.
"I think it has been good... people can talk about their intimate lives, that they have a voice in it, that they can be who they authentically are, whether it's how they choose to live sexually or the kinds of exchanges they share with friends and intimate friends.
"I think for a while there was an emphasis on the sort of superficial stuff, which was always titillating and fun, but not as important as the journey of friendship and the search for home and love," Parker told CNN's Christiane Amanpour, read a statement.
Parker discussed her new role as a publisher, her love for books and the legacy of Sex and the City. She also spoke about her company's latest book "A Place for Us" and describes the novel as "a book for our times".
Books are Parker's "most relied upon companions".
"I think my most relied upon companions are books - they allow you to escape to be in someone else's life. The more foreign, the more it is unknown. The more unlike myself and my life, the more interesting I find it"
Parker also said she is proud of fellow Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon after her recent run for Governor of New York.
"(I am) Really proud of her. He (Andrew Cuomo) did well, and I think she was really important for the conversation. I think there were some discussions that matters to a lot of New Yorkers.
"I'm enormously proud of her, it must have been very scary, it is a big deal to take on Governor Cuomo and I'm really proud of her and she did it with such dignity," she said.
