MUMBAI: Nag Ashwin’s much awaited sci-fi saga Kalki 2898 AD’s release date is coming near. There are a lot of assumptions that have begun about what the film is all about. Although the film has been in the production for over two years, the makers have released some behind the scenes videos which have given us a glimpse of a National Award-winning actress in the film.
The upcoming movie, Kalki 2898 AD includes the star studded cast, Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. The film is mounted on a Rs 650-crore budget, and it is India’s most expensive film produced till date. Apart from the retained actors, there were rumours that the film features a number of exciting cameos. While a lot of them have not yet been confirmed (or denied), recently, Vyjayanthi Movies, the film’s producers, shared a video casting Bujji, who plays a robot character in the film, who is the protagonist Bhairava’s best friend. Fans were speculating that Bujji seems to be dubbed by Keerthy Suresh. This is possible because Keerthy was the lead of Kalki 2898 AD director Nag Ashwin’s Mahanati. In fact, it was her performance that was praised in Mahanati that had earned Keerthy the National Award for Best Actress.
The video of Bujji’s introduction begins with a stint as a robot, followed by interviews of the technicians who created it for the film. It even pleads with the filmmaker, Nag Ashwin. By the end of the video, Bhairava himself (Prabhas) reveals Bujji’s whole body, where it is revealed that the character is a futuristic car. But since Keerthy is just giving the voice for Bujji, her face will not be revealed in Kalki 2898 AD.
This movie is the dream project of the director, Nag Ashwin. For years, before the official title was revealed, it was referred to as Project K. The film is slated for release on June 27.
