MUMBAI : There are many singers in the Hindi Film Industry such as Arijit Singh, Neha Kakkar and more that started their music career with Indian Idol and despite the fact that they have not emerged as a winner, they become superstars. There is one more singer who belongs from this list, however she wanted to become an actress, later she became a singing sensation.

She started her career as an actor and later was eliminated from Indian Idol at the 9th spot. Fortunately, one song changed her whole career and made her a superstar. She is none other than Monali Thakur.
Monali Thakur has appeared in many Bengali movies as well as Tv shows where she played the role of the lead actress. At the age of 14, she sang the first song of her life in the film Chena Chena under the musical direction of Anupam Dutta and penned by Pulak Bandyopadhyay. She also recorded another song Choi Choi Choi Tipi Tipi which won her first award for Best Playback Singer.
Later the singer participated in the reality show, Indian Idol and got fame even though she was eliminated in the 9th position. She then got an offer from music director Pritam Chakraborty to sing two songs for the Hindi Film Industry film Race in 2008 – Khwab Dekhe and Zara Zara Touch Me which was a turning point for her career and made her a star. Zara Zara Touch Me became one of the biggest hits of that year.
After this she never looked back, she went on to sing songs like Tu Mohabbat, Dilruba Ke Jalwe, Haal-e-dil from Buddha Hoga Tera Baap, and many more. One of her most popular tracks was Moh Moh Ke Dhage for the film Dum Laga Ke Haisha for which she won the National Award for Best Singer.
As per, reports she charges Rs 10-15 lakhs per song and is one of the highest-paid singers in the industry.
