MUMBAI : According to Mukesh Rishi, who is most recognized for his role as Inspector Salim in the Sarfarosh movie starring Aamir Khan, this is one of his most memorable roles to date. After the movie's release, Mukesh shared anecdotal evidence that he was headed to Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu, his homeland, shortly after the movie's release. Aamir attempted to get in touch with him in the interim since he thought Mukesh would receive a lot of film offers after Sarfarosh.
Opening up about his career struggles, Mukesh said in an interview, “I was told that I received a call from Aamir Khan’s place. When I called him back, Aamir asked ‘where are you?’ I told him ‘I am in Jammu’. He said ‘you should be here’. I didn’t understand it at the time but many people later told me that he said the right thing. But I didn’t have business sense back then.”
Mukesh revealed that Aamir had hosted a party at his house following the movie's premiere, which may have given him further opportunities in the film industry by introducing him to a number of industry insiders. He added, “Aamir had thrown a party at his house. These things matter. Lots of important people must have attended that and that could have led to some meetings.”
Mukesh added, “The biggest advantage I got after Sarfarosh was that I started getting projects in the south.”
But Mukesh went on to say that although he had a lot of memorable roles throughout his career, Sarfarosh's Salim was still the one that earned him a lot of recognition.
