MUMBAI: Many big celebrities have over the years endorsed fairness brands which indirectly promote racism based on skin colour.

It was in the recent past where a debate around the world of supporting #BlackLivesMatter protest, several Bollywood stars have been called out for their hypocritcal stand. But not all actors have endorsed fairness creams. Several stars have clearly refused to promote any fairness product as it promotes a false notion of beauty.
Today, let us take a look at the celebrities who have refused to promote fairness products.
Kangana Ranaut
She is known for being brutally honest. The actress had reportedly turned down a Rs 2 crore offer for endorsement of such a product. She had said, 'Ever since I was a kid, I have never understood the concept of fairness. Especially, in such a case, as a celebrity, what kind of an example would I be setting for younger people? I have no regrets about turning this offer down. As a public figure, I have responsibilities.'
Anushka Sharma
In 2013, Anushka Sharma did endorse a fairness product. However, she learnt her lesson and refused to promote the same, thereafter. She said, ‘I will not propagate anything that says this is right or wrong.'
Ranbir Kapoor
In 2017, Brahmastra actor Ranbir Kapoor reportedly turned down a Rs 9-crore deal which was about endorsing a fairness product.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas
Priyanka Chopra had opened up on facing discrimination due to her skin tone in her family. She had endorsed such products initially but refused to do so after a while.
Late Sushant Singh Rajput
If reports are anything to go by, late Sushant Singh Rajput was offered a whopping Rs 18-crore deal to promote a fairness product. However, the Chhichhore actor refused it.
