MUMBAI: After the Inshallah controversy, Sanjay Leela Bhansali had opened up about the potential of collaborating with Salman Khan in the near future. Despite their disagreements, the filmmaker considers the actor to be a close friend.
"Salman is a very dear friend, and I wanted to work with him after Padmavat. I put my best feet forward to make it happen. For whatever reasons, it didn't turn out. We all change as people. So he has changed; in his mind, I have changed," the Sawaariya director asserted.

He further added that he holds the guy who did Khamoshi for him, who performed Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam for him, and who stood by in Sawariyaa in the highest regard and respect. So he (Salman) has played a huge role in shaping who Sanjay is today, and he will always be revered for it.
When asked if the actor-director duo from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam will reunite, SLB stated it is now up to Salman Khan to decide. “The ball is in his court to decide if he wants to work with me, and if it's god willing inshallah agar hona hai to hoga (it'll happen if it's supposed to happen)."
Sanjay has previously worked with Salman in the 1996 film Khamoshi, opposite Manisha Koirala, and again in the 1999 film Dil De Chuke Sanam, starring Aishwarya Rai and Ajay Devgn.
