MUMBAI : Vaani Kapoor in an interview with an entertainment website talks about the success of Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui. The actress talks about being called an outsider, choosing smaller roles in films, and a lot more.
Vaani Kapoor on being stereotyped for the role she has been doing
I am very secure as a person and as an actor. I don’t have that insecurity of supporting certain subjects or not supporting them. To each to his own. But it felt right for me personally. I wanted to be associated with Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui. I wanted this story to be addressed. I enjoyed reading the script, and it blew my mind. After reading the script, I checked with the director Abhishek Kapoor how is he going to present my character and how is he planning to shoot it, because anything can go wrong, especially when I have not walked in their shoes. So it is very important to have a filmmaker who is responsible and addresses issues in a very sensible way.

Vaani Kapoor on being called an outsider
I think doing a good job does not mean I get party invites. It means to performa good act that holds meaning and depth. So I will choose to act then to attend parties. I don’t think I am very social or a people’s person. I surround myself with people who don’t judge me or expect anything from me.
Vaani Kapoor on choosing smaller roles in films
I am always been waiting for a film like Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui. I am not going to take anything away from the films in which I appeared in the smaller roles like War or Bell Bottom. It was my conscious decision and I am very proud of it. They may be small parts but they are very substantial for the storyline of the film and have a lot of substance. I think these are my choices and I will back them because nobody advises me what to do and what not. So it was my sole decision and I am very proud of my decisions.
