New Chasme Buddoor to release along with the original on 5 April

More than three decades after it was first released, Sai Paranjpe's cult classic Chashme Buddoor will again woo Indian audiences on 5 April, the same day when its modern-day remake is scheduled to open in cinemas. And the credit of the unique exhibition exercise goes to PVR Director’s Rare. "Earlier we had decided to release it a week ahead and then decided to release it on the same day because the buzz will be maximum during that time," said Shiladitya Bora, head of Director's Rare, an alternative programming wing of the PVR multiplex chain.

Paranjpe's brand of satirical comedy in the film has won her several fans over the years since 1981. The film stars Farooque Sheikh, Ravi Baswani andR akesh Bedi as three friends whose hare-brained scheme backfires. The female lead has been played by Deepti Naval who essayed the detergent-selling Miss Chamko with aplomb. The remake has been directed by David Dhawan with Ali Zafar and Taapsee Pannu in the lead roles.
