MUMBAI: Bollywood megastar Salman Khan has been making headlines for many reasons. Recently it was revealed that his name was on the hit list of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, known for the murder of Sidhu Moosewala. Since the news broke, Salman Khan’s security has been strengthened and he has been given a Y+ security detail based on the intelligence received in the central and state governments. Other than Salman Khan, his father and notable screenplay writer, Salim Khan received a death threat letter.

The whole matter began when Salim Khan was sitting on a bench at the Bandra Bandstand after a morning walk, when an unidentified man placed a letter in which the death threat for him and his actor-son was written. He lodged an FIR under section 506-II (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code at the Bandra police station. Meanwhile, the police subsequently recorded the statements of Salim Khan and Salman Khan.
A Y+ category is a security detail of 39 personnel, including 2-4 commandos and police personnel. Earlier in August, the Mumbai Police issued a gun license to Salman Khan as on his application he cited a death threat from gangsters.
Currently, Salman Khan is the host of reality TV show Bigg Boss 16. Recently the actor had recovered from dengue, and resumed shooting for Bigg Boss 16 last week. The Bollywood superstar has been hosting the reality show since 2010, but he was forced to take a break from his hosting act as she was diagnosed with dengue last month and was unable to shoot for the 'Weekend Ka Vaar' episodes of the Colors channel show. He also has various upcoming films in his kitty.
