MUMBAI: Prem Chopra is renowned for his legendary roles in 380 films over the course of 60 years of his career in the film industry. Famous for his versatile acting, he has worked as a villain, hero and side actor and managed to deliver stellar performances across all roles. As the actor turns 85 on 23rd September, he opens up about his current lifestyle, interests and hobbies on the show Zindagi ek Safar on Tata Sky Seniors.
Not many people know that he started his film career with the 1960 Punjabi film Chaudhary Karnail Singh, remake of a Pakistani film. Few years into his acting career, Prem Chopra was delighted when he eventually got an opportunity to work with Dilip Kumar, of whom he was a huge fan, in the film Dastaan. He reminisces about his father telling him, “if you want to work in the film industry, become like Dilip Kumar.”
While he has worked for over six decades, he feels that an actor never retires and there is always work if a person is willing to do the hard work. He says, “Talent is not dependent on age. If you are talented and deliver on whatever character is given to you, you will always be in demand.”
Talking about a regular day of his life, he shares that he does yoga each morning and likes to swim occasionally to stay fit. Prem Chopra also talks about his love for poetry and how he has picked up his old hobby from earlier years.
