MUMBAI: Raghav Mathur gives fans another reason to swoon with delight with the release of 'Choro' official video this season. Back in his signature style, the plot spotlights a crazed fan's obsession with the heartthrob of 2000s landing him into precarious situations almost costing him his life. It delves into the eerie world of fandom with an unexpected twist as viewers are taken on a rollercoaster of emotions as the storyline unfolds.
The video clearly pays homage to the motion picture “Misery” based on the novel of the same title by Stephen King.
It begins with an accident, leading to a rescue that turns out to be orchestrated by an overzealous fan. As the plot thickens, it becomes clear that the fan, driven by an unhealthy obsession with Raghav has him in captive leaving him to find his own way out. It highlights the darker side of fame, exploring the blurred lines between admiration, obsession and objectification while the look and feel transverse you back in time.
Joined by Mushtaq, the R&B track celebrates the comeback indipop icon's globally-alluring style. With the thumping sound of contemporary R&B mixed with a vintage Bollywood sample, it juxtaposes his timeless appeal with temporal and cross-generational freshness. The sample is used from ‘Piya Aiso Jiya Mein Samaya Gayo’ as sung by Geeta Dutt from the 1962 film ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Ghulam’.
Raghav Mathur said, "Interestingly, I've had some crazy fan encounters in my life but not once have I flinched or wished otherwise. In fact, it's always brought me a sense of accomplishment and made me feel good about the work I put out in the world. I am built for and by my fans...so keep 'em coming! I hope people enjoy this tiny slice of my life made with lot of love in response to love."
