Rajshri Productions gets into detective genre with Samrat & Co.

Of late a lot of detective films are being launched. And the latest is Rajshri Productions, a house that has been known to have given us family dramas, have announced Samrat & Co that will have Rajeev Khandelwal playing a detective. The so called suspense-adventure, being produced by Kavita Barjatya will also have Madalsa Sharma as the leading lady. This will be the first detective film from the stables of the Rajshris among a series of films lined up in this genre by other filmmakers next year. Other films in this space include the Arshad Warsi and Soha Ali Khan-starrer Mr Joe B Carvalho where the actor does a Steve Martin playing a bumbling sleuth like Martins Jacques Clouseau in The Pink Panther series. Incidentally, the film would be the first release of 2014. This will be followed by Anurag Basu's Jagga Jasoos starring Ranbir Kapoor, Dibakar Bannerjee's Detective Byomkesh Bakshi with newcomer Sushant Singh Rajput. On the other hand, Vidya Balan will be seen as Bobby Jasoos in a film by the same name. The film is being directed by newcomer Samar Sheikh. And lastly, Anushka Sharma plays a detective in Navdeep Singh's NH10.
