MUMBAI: Nitesh Tiwari’s much-anticipated cinematic retelling of the Ramayan is shaping up to be a historic moment for Indian cinema. Known for his directorial triumphs like Dangal and Chhichhore, Tiwari now turns his lens to one of India’s most revered epics, blending profound mythological storytelling with modern cinematic grandeur.
Leading the ensemble is Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, with Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash portraying the fearsome Ravana. Marking his Hindi film debut, popular television actor Ravi Dubey steps into the role of Lakshman.
In a touching video from the sets, Ranbir is seen warmly embracing Ravi as they celebrate the successful wrap of the film’s first schedule. The moment was further commemorated with a celebratory cake-cutting and heartfelt – albeit inaudible – speeches by the cast and crew.

The excitement continues to build as the makers prepare to unveil the first official glimpse of the film on 3rd July at an IMAX event in Mumbai, which is being hailed as a landmark cinematic moment.
Slated to release in two parts during Diwali in 2026 and 2027, Ramayan is being produced by Namit Malhotra of Prime Focus Studios and is poised to redefine the landscape of Indian mythology on the big screen.
With state-of-the-art VFX, grand set designs, and a universally resonant emotional core, the project is already being touted as one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious endeavours.
