MUMBAI: Yesterday was a tragic day for the music industry as Grammy-nominated rapper DMX passed away at the age of 50. His real name was Earl Simmons, and he had been on life support for the past few days before succumbing to cardiac arrest. Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra are heartbroken and took to their respective Instagram accounts to pay a tribute to him.
The actor shared a picture of him on his Insta stories and backed it with one of his popular songs ‘Let Me Fly’ followed by a broken heart emoji. Meanwhile, Priyanka penned a heartfelt note while sending her love and condolences to his family on her Twitter, saying, “He was one of my favourite artists growing up, and then to have had the opportunity to work with him was such a dream come true. Such a big loss for the music industry. #RIP DMX. Sending my thoughts and love to his family.”

After his demise, the family released an official statement that read, “We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50-years-old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days. Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him. Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever. We appreciate all of the love and support during this incredibly difficult time. Please respect our privacy as we grieve the loss of our brother, father, uncle and the man the world knew as DMX. We will share information about his memorial service once details are finalized."
