Rana would love to do superhero film in Indian space
Actor Rana Daggubati, who had dubbed for a version of the Hollywood superhero film Avengers: Infinity War, is interested in the genre if told in Indian context.
Asked if Rana would like to do a superhero film, he told a leading publication "I did one called Baahubali."
"That's a superhero for you," the actor, who played the main antagonist in the Baahubali franchise, said with a laugh.
But what about playing the good guy?
"I would love to do something in the Indian space, Indian thinking and writing. Being a superhero is an experience that you give to the audience. The reason why the Hulk, Thanos and all are big characters is because once you go to theatres, you enter that world... created by the filmmakers," he said.
Rana had said earlier, "Baahubali has done to Indian cinema what Star Wars has done to America. I really feel we are in our best time now."
Raza Murad turns romantic hero, was craving to do 'something different'
His tall frame, unique baritone and casting as a villain in multiple films left Raza Murad caught in the stereotype web that most actors struggle to break. It is after many years in the film industry, that the veteran actor has got a chance to play a romantic, vulnerable and innocent man in Uncle On The Rocks.
"A team consisting of youngsters came to me and I was intrigued as to how they thought of casting an actor with such a tough and negative image, in a romantic role. I was admiring their guts and their gambling instincts," Raza told a leading publication.
A romantic comedy short film, Uncle On The Rocks -- created by young talents Prasun Jindal and Vedd V Rawtaani -- sees Raza play the character of a 60-year-old man who wants to fall in love once before dying. He bribes his nephew to help him make his profile on Tinder, and from there begins the uncle's tryst with love.
"I did not do a romantic role in the prime of my youth. Now that I have got to play the role, I have worked hard on it," said the actor, who has featured in films like Prem Rog, Henna, Ram Teri Ganga Maili, Khud-Daar, Ram Lakhan and Padmaavat.
"I am a trained actor and an alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). I was craving to do something different. An actor was not getting enough chances to prove his range... I am glad I got this chance to prove my versatility," he added.
On a jocular note, Raza said, "My casting in Uncle On The Rocks is like Rajpal Yadav being cast as Shahenshah or Akbar."
Raza said in Bollywood, he is a part of a league which includes the likes of Ranjeet, Prem Chopra and Shakti Kapoor.
"This is a 'hat ke (unique)' slot. Somewhere people think 'ye guzre zamaane ka slot hai (these actors belong to a slot from a bygone era), and they feel 'hope our film won't look outdated by casting them'," he said.
However, he is hopeful the digital medium, which he feels is "here to stay", will bring a positive change for actors like him.
Apart from intermittent projects like Uncle On The Rocks, Raza keeps busy with events, seminars and acting workshops.

‘Green Book' to release in India on 23 November
Comedy drama Green Book will hit the screens in India on 23 November.
Anil D. Ambani-led Reliance Entertainment will release the movie in the country, read a statement.
The film is based on a true story of friendship and relationship between working class Italian-American bouncer who becomes a driver of an African-American classical pianist on a tour of venues through the 1960's American South. The film is not a biopic but is inspired by the true story about friendship between Donald Shirley, an erudite African-American pianist and his white chauffer Tony Lip.
Green Book had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2018, and won over not just the audiences but also went on to win the People's Choice Award. Directed by Peter Farrelly, the film has Viggo Mortensen essaying the role of Tony Lip and Mahershala Ali essaying the role of Shirley.
Mortensen said, "This is a movie about a relationship between a black man and a white man before the Civil Rights Act, and the backdrop is one of obvious socio-economic and racial tension. In many ways, we're facing the same problems today that are depicted in the film. There are a lot of mirror images and mirror concepts that our story deals with, between 1962 and now, and I think people will find that enlightening as well as entertaining."
Ali said, "This is a perfect film for audiences around the world because it's about people who are different and who are able to discover their similarities and teach each other things about their differences. They're able to accept each other. These men come from very, very different worlds and they become allies."
The film also has Don Stark and Linda Cardellini in supporting roles. (Source :IANS)
