MUMBAI: Being both behind and in front of the camera has been an enriching experience for actress-Stylist Riddhima Sharma. She has both acted in and styled for two music videos called Saahiba and Sapna Jahaan, and says that both are very important to her.
“I've had the privilege of working on two music albums with Zee Music. My first song, Saahiba, holds a very special place in my heart. As someone who’s always been camera-friendly and passionate about photography and videography, it was a fulfilling experience to be both behind and in front of the camera. The shoot for Saahiba took place in Kolkata,” she says.
She adds, “My second song, Sapna Jahaan, is a poignant tale of love and longing. It tells the story of a woman named Ranjhana whose husband returns from the army after the war, only to find that her life has moved on. The emotions in this song hit close to home for me, especially since my father is in the army. That personal connection made the performance all the more meaningful.”
Ask her what she keeps in mind while styling for music videos, and she says, “When I style for a music video, my priority is always to make the actor or client feel absolutely superb and comfortable. I focus on selecting outfits that are not only elegant and visually striking but also comfortable to wear. That confidence and ease really show on camera and elevate the performance.”
Meanwhile, the actress-stylist adds that she is not a formally trained artists, and is totally natural on screen. “In the early days of my journey, I often felt lost and unsure. But IPS Officer Amit Lodha Uncle, known for his 55 encounters, became a huge source of inspiration and guidance. His words, ‘Riddhima, just believe in yourself, you’ll surely do it,’ have stayed with me ever since. He’s not only shared invaluable wisdom but also taught me how to trust myself and think with clarity and conviction. I haven't taken any formal training in acting. Everything I do in front of the camera is completely organic. I react and perform based on the emotion and energy of the moment.”
Talking about the kind of roles she wants to be part of, she says, “I’m particularly drawn to family dramas. There’s something very relatable and grounded about them, and I feel they offer a beautiful space to explore layered emotions and real-life dynamics.”
