MUMBAI: Former Food Network star and Celebrity chef Michael Chiarella sadly passed away on Saturday following an acute allergic reaction. He was 61 years old. The chef was being treated for his allergy at the Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa, California, which led to an anaphylactic shock that ultimately led to his demise.

Michael’s company Gruppo Chiarello, released a statement confirming the chef’s demise. The statement read, “We deeply mourn the loss of our beloved patriarch Michael. His culinary brilliance, boundless creativity, and unwavering commitment to family were at the core of his being. He brought people together through the joy of shared meals, fostering lasting memories around the table. As we navigate this profound loss, we hold dear the moments we cherished with him, both in his kitchens and in our hearts. His legacy will forever live on in the love he poured into every dish and the passion he instilled in all of us to savor life’s flavors.’
Chirella was born on January 26, 1962, in Red Bluff, California. He opened his first restaurant Tra Vigne, in Napa Valley in 1987. His restaurants that followed post that included Bottega, Ottimo and Coqueta. iN 199, he ventured into winemaking.
In 1985, Michael Chiarello was named Chef of the Year by Food and Wine magazine and in 1995, he received CIA’s Chef of the Year award.
