Filming of Dabangg fame Abhinav Kashyap’s Besharam has been going on in full swing.
The film, the tagline of which is ‘Na sammaan ka moh, na apmaan ka bhay’, stars Ranbir Kapoor, Pallavi Sharda and Ranbir’s parents Rishi and Neetu Singh.
One hears that Rishi and Neetu’s roles are being stretched so that audiences don’t feel cheated by the playing-time featuring Ranbir with his parents. Says an excited Rishi, “Both Neetu and I enjoyed working with Ranbir thoroughly.
But out of the feeling that there should be more of Neetu and me, I spoke to the makers; they’re trying to expand our roles.”
“In the original, Neetu and I play cops and our characters are seen on and off. But now Abhinav is trying to increase our roles.” The team felt that there aren’t enough father-son golden moments between Rishi and Ranbir in the film.
Meanwhile, in their bid to revive the R K banner, Rishi Kapoor and his son Ranbir are mulling with the idea of remaking Awara. That means that the father son duo would essay the roles that Prithiviraj Kapoor and Raj Kapoor reprised in Awara.
Confides Rishi, “Besharam was the testing ground for the two of us together on-screen. We would now like to do something deeper. A remake of my father’s Awara is on our minds. And in all likelihood we will be doing it for our banner RK Films.”
However, the Sargam star won’t direct the new Awara. “No thanks. I don’t want to get into that space again. I am very comfortable and happy as an actor and am having a ball,” he quips.
Incidentally, Rishi Kapoor directed the last project of the R K Banner titled Aa Ab Laut Chale that had Akshay Khanna and Aishwarya Rai in the lead.
