Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pardes clocks 27 years; Director Subhas Ghai says, ‘Feels like yesterday’

MUMBAI : Recently, Pardes, the musical drama with romantic themes and stars Shah Rukh Khan, Mahima Chaudhry, Apurva Agnihotri, and Amrish Puri, turned 27 years old. Thanks to its captivating plot and emotionally evocative soundtrack, the 1997 movie is still regarded as a cult masterpiece. The film's director, Subhash Ghai, wrote a touching statement on social media to commemorate the memorable event. He said that working with a newcomer and an established star like SRK on a film was difficult.

Pardes’ director Subhash Ghai took to his Instagram account and shared a poster of Pardes and wrote, “IS IT N’T REWARDING TO GET A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PROTÉGÉE WITH THIS PICTURE CELEBRATING 27 years of PARDES 🤗

Thank u dear MAHIMA for your sweet msg today as “ feels like yesterday “

Previously, Subhash Ghai opened up about working with SRK saying, “Maine Pardes mein Shah Rukh Khan ke saath kaam kiya. Uske aur mere beech manmutaav chalta rehta tha, tu-tu main-main chalti rehti thi.”

He further said, “During every scene and song, I reminded him (SRK) that he needed to hide his compelling, romantic side to justify Arjun’s character. It was difficult for him, but he nailed it!”

Apart from Pardes, Ghai is known to direct films like  Ram Lakhan, Karz, Saudagar, Karma, Khal Nayak, Hero, Vidhata, Meri Jung and Taal. All of these films were massive hits.
