MUMBAI : After much delay, Shatrughan Sinha finally spoke out about his daughter, actress Sonakshi Sinha's marriage to her boyfriend and actor Zaheer Iqbal. Shatrughan Sinha stated that he hadn't spoken about his daughter's wedding plans with anyone in an interview with the popular news portal. He further stated that whenever the couple tells them about the wedding, he and his wife will shower blessings upon them. The couple will tie the knot in Mumbai on June 23, as per the previous reports.

Shatrugan seems almost entirely uninformed when discussing Sonakshi and Zaheer's wedding. He said, "I am in Delhi right now. After the election results, I flew down here. I haven't spoken to anyone about my daughter's plans. So your question is, is she getting married? The answer is that she hasn't told me anything about it. Main bhi utna hi jaanta ho jitna main media maine padha hai (I know as much about this as what the media has told me). If and when she takes me into confidence, my wife and I will give the couple my blessings. We wish her happiness always."

The actor-politician also explained that his daughter has the right to make her own decisions. "We trust her judgment completely. She would never make an extra-constitutional or illegal decision. As a consenting adult, she has the right to make her own decisions," he added.

He then continued saying, "Having said that, I would like to say that whenever my daughter gets married, I would like to be dancing right in front of the baaraat."

Additionally, Shratughan Sinha reiterated his desire to find out more about the wedding. "I am being asked by people close to me why I am not aware of this and the media is aware of it. All I can say is, aaj kal ke bachche consent nahin lete maap-baap ke, sirf inform karte hain (these days, children don't seek permission from parents, they just inform). We are waiting to be informed," he said.

Invitations for close friends and family members have been sent out, according to the report released by the widely read news portal. The complete cast of "Heeramandi" has also been given an invitation.

The text on the wedding invitation reads, "The rumors are true," and it is styled like a magazine cover.

The wedding ceremonies for Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal will also be held at Mumbai's Bastian.

Sonakshi's most recent role was in the web series "Heeramandi," which was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Netflix is presently offering the show for streaming.
