Shobhit Johri: Before exporting vaccines we should’ve referred to what they say in flights, ‘Doosre ki sahayta karne se pehle, apna mask pehne...’

MUMBAI: The vaccination drive is still on. The government recently announced free vaccination for people above the age of 18. However, vaccine shortage is a reality. Reacting to the situation, actor Shobit Johri, shares that the government is trying it’s best to get everyone vaccinated. And that open vaccination in the beginning would not have been the correct thing to do and therefore the phase wise process adopted by the government was correct.

“I don’t think it should have been open vaccination from the beginning. Ours is a highly populated country and open vaccination would have created chaos. But yes we cannot even deny that there is a shortage of vaccines. I feel before exporting vaccines we should have referred to what they say in flights, ‘Doosre ki sahayta karne se pehle, apna mask pehne...’ Probably we could have saved more lives that we lost during the second wave... But now the situation is improving, the vaccination drive is in full swing, so we are on a roll,” says the actor, who was seen in the film Bharat and web series Tandav.

Shobhit adds that health is one thing that has taken centre stage in our lives, all thanks to this pandemic. Right eating, exercising and taking care of our own health and that of the near and dear ones have become a necessity.

“Everyone has understood the value of ‘jaan hai toh jahaan hai’. This pandemic has made us realise that we need to in the best of our mental and physical health to deal with such times.  Given the profession I’m in, my health has always been my priority, and now all the more so. Many of us take our health for granted, don’t exercise or follow a healthy diet. Let’s not allow a brutal pandemic to teach us all these simple things. Let’s accept healthy living as a way of life,” he adds.

Reacting to how Covid-19 crisis affected the economy leading to many going jobless, Shobhit says, “I’m not in a position to comment on the economy, but yes I can talk about what I see around myself. Many people lost their jobs and are struggling for regular income. In such a scenario we all should come forward and help each other. We all are sailing in the same boat. But yes I’m sure very soon we will rise again and be the best version of ourselves.”
