MUMBAI: Queen actress Kangana Ranaut is under a legal battle now. Ashish Kaul files a contempt petition against Kangana for lying to the court. Ashish Kaul, who had earlier filed a copyright infringement case against actress Kangana Ranaut based on her film 'Manikarnika Returns: The Legend of Didda', has now filed a contempt petition against the Kangana in Bombay High Court. He has clearly blamed that the Tanu Weds Manu star lied to the court in order to get her passport renewed. Ashish also talks about how Kangana did not disclose all the cases filed against her in various courts.
Shedding light on the contempt petition, Kaul's lawyers Adnan Shaikh and Yogita Joshi quoted, “We served a letter to Javed Akhtar Ji and found out through his reply that there was concealing of facts in the Passport Application and this is a serious offence. We are duty-bound to bring this to the notice of the Hon'ble High Court and if fraud committed upon the court is established then there are bound of be repercussions.”
Ashish Kaul’s contempt petition comes after the Bombay High Court denied hearing veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar's intervention plea which was against Kangana Ranaut. The lyricist had alleged that her counsel deliberately did not disclose the facts to get into confidence from the Regional Passport Authority for her passport renewal process.
As per the media reports, it is said that Kangana Ranaut had sought an exemption from appearing in court hearings as she is currently not in the country for her upcoming projects. According to the reports, a Mumbai Magistrate Court has given the actress a 'last chance to appear on the next date otherwise a bailable warrant will be issued against her. The audience is curious about Kangana's come back.
