MUMBAI: A man code-named Prem and two of his associates were nabbed in Mumbai for operating a casting couch racket. The accused used to force their clients to take up prostitution
A casting couch racket was busted in Mumbai by the crime branch, the police said on Wednesday. Three persons were arrested by the cops in relation to the racket. The racket was busted after API Sachin Waze of the Criminal Intelligence Unit (CIU) received a tip-off about a man code-named Prem.
Prem works as a director and film producer. He allegedly used to lure aspiring actresses and models on the pretext of roles before forcing them to take up prostitution.
The accused targeted women who used to work in advertisements, web series and movies. After learning about the racket, the crime branch decided to lay a trap for the accused. As part of the trap, Rs 2 lakh were deposited as bait to a bank account given by Prem. On January 19, the CIU and the Social Services (SS) joined hands to trap Prem
Prem and two other women, who worked with him fell prey and induced 8 other women. After exposing the wrongdoings of the accused, the women were rescued by the cops.
This news has sent out shockwaves across the city and has opened the eyes of many budding actresses from predators around them.
