MUMBAI : Waheeda Rahman is a veteran actress who acted in a variety of films throughout the years. She has won the hearts of millions of people. She became well-known in Indian cinema thanks to her roles in movies like Kaagaaz Ke Phool, CID, Saheb Biwi Aur Ghulaam, and Satyajit Ray's Abhijaan.
When she co-starred with Dev Anand in the 1965 film Guide, her career took off. After her feature film debut in CID, she acted alongside Dev Anand again in this film. For Guide, she had additionally won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress. However, she had a difficult journey with the Guide.

In an interview, she admitted that Ram Maheshwari, the filmmaker of the 1968 film Neel Kamal, in which Waheeda Rahman starred, had urged her to leave Guide though she continued to work there. She claimed that while filming for both projects was ongoing, Maheshwari asked her to stop shooting for Guide because it would interfere with the part she was playing in Neel Kamal.
She played a completely different role as Sita in Neel Kamal than she played as a dancer in Guide. The director was concerned that it might damage her character's reputation from the Neel Kamal. Additionally, Kamal had informed her that making such films is bad for her career and that they don't succeed in India.
Rahman said, “I will work in both the films and if you are not okay with it, you can remove me from your project.” Rahman later contributed to both films, and they both were box office smashes. Many people praised the songs from the movies as well as the movie itself. She received the Filmfare award for both the 1965 film Guide and the 1968 film Neel Kamal.
Waheeda Rahman's most recent appearance was in Kamal Hassan's 2018 film Vishwaroopam II. She currently works as a charity volunteer and is 85 years old.
