The Mumbai High Court has directed Manish Gupta, who has made a Hindi film on Aarushi's murder case titled Rahasya, to show the same to Aarushi's parents first before releasing it.
The film’s story centers on a couple whose only child, a teenage girl, gets murdered in her sleep inside their large duplex apartment. Initial police investigations point the murdered girl’s father (played by Ashish Vidyarthi) as the prime accused.
But as the case is taken over by the Central Bureau of Investigation (C.B.I.), further evidence springs up and leaves everyone baffled as to who the actual killer is?
The High Court bench of justices VM Kanadey and AK Menon came out with the above decision while hearing a petition filed by Rajesh and Nupur Talwar yesterday (10 March, 2014).
The parents of Aarushi, who have been convicted in November last year and sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of their daughter, had earlier filed a petition opposing the release of film saying that it was based on "a distortion of facts surrounding the gruesome murder of their daughter Aarushi and portrays the petitioners and their daughter in a bad light and casts a slur on their reputation."
For people who are interested, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) that had cleared Rahasya with a U/A certificate in January, informed the Court that the film was a fictional drama and it does not show any details of the personal lives of the Talwars.
Talwar's lawyer had then demanded that the film be shown to any member of the Talwar family before it is released. Agreeing to their demand, Gupta's lawyer told the Court that they are ready to show the film to the Talwars before its screening.
Rahasya stars Kay Kay Menon, Tisca Chopra, Ashish Vidyarthi, Mita Vashisht and Ashwini Kalsekar.
The film is slated to hit theatres later this year.
