MUMBAI: Actor Shreyas Talpade's followers were shocked when a story spreading like wildfire claimed he had passed away. Social media users shared the false message a lot more times. The actor clarified the facts in a statement and blasted the haters for spreading the disturbing stories.
In a lengthy message on Instagram, Shreyas Talpade stated, “He is alive, happy, and healthy.” He thanked all of his friends and well-wishers who enquired about him after reading the false information, “While I understand that humor has its place when it’s misused, it can cause real harm.”
“What may have started as a joke by someone, is now creating unnecessary worry and playing with the emotions of those who care about me, especially my family,” his note further read.
Shreyas Talpade had a heart attack last year, and expressed concern that his little daughter's fear had increased due to the misleading information. He revealed that she was already concerned about his well-being and that the rumour had made her worries worse.
“This false news only deepens her fears, forcing her to confront more questions from her peers and teachers, stirring up emotions that we’ve been trying to manage as a family,” he said.
Finally, Shreyas Talpade urged people to stop spreading false information about his passing.“To the trolls, I have a simple request: please stop. Don’t joke around at the cost of others, and don’t do this to anyone else. I wouldn’t want anything like this to happen to you ever, so please be sensitive. Chasing engagement and likes should never come at the expense of other’s feelings,” he added.
As false reports of the actor's death emerged, internet users turned to Google to confirm the reports. Google searches for "Shreyas Talpade" peaked on Monday between 10 and 11 p.m. over the previous day.
The actor's home state of Maharashtra was the source of the majority of searches, followed by Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Goa, and Gujarat.
"Shreyas talpade news," "golmaal," "shreyas talpade latest," "shreyas talpade alive," and "shreyas talpade latest news" was the top related searches performed by internet users.
Shreyas Talpade was taken to the hospital after suffering a heart attack in December of 2023. The actor told a media source that he sees his recovery as a "second chance at life," recalling the terrifying incident. He also admitted that it was "nothing short of a miracle" that he had survived. After Shreyas Talpade recovered, his wife Deepti expressed her gratitude to the medical staff, supporters, and well-wishers for their continuous support during the difficult period.
