MUMBAI: Mumbai, 23rd August 2024: Gubbara Entertainment held the star-studded screening of their upcoming short film titled Chashma on 22nd August. The film brings together powerhouses of talent, with Konkona Sen Sharma and Ayan Khan leading the cast, Nitin Baid (editor Gully Boy and Masaan) helming the direction, and Varun Grover with his enduring screenplay. The short film features other enigmatic actors such as Kabir Shah, Shafeen Patel, Shishir Sharma and Vijay Shrivastava , who shine on screen and bring the heartwarming story to life. The exclusive first screening of the film was attended by cast, crew, friends and family from the industry, including the likes of Sidharth Malhotra, Reema Kagti, Akanksha Ranjan Kapoor, and Aryan Khan among many others.
Nitin Baid, director of the film , talking about his directorial debut, shared, “I am embarking on a new project with Chashma being my very first film as a Director. I wanted to capture the emotions of boyhood and the coming of age in a nation like India. To be able to channel my personal connection with the theme of the film and now to see it on the big screen before me, is a surreal experience. Having our friends from the industry come out to support the film for its very first screening was definitely an exciting experience”
Konkana Sen Sharma shared her thoughts on the film, “I think that Chashma is a very sensitive film. It is told through these three kids. I hope that the people who watch this film will appreciate the nuances, the subtleties of the power dynamics between children. I think that’s something we’ve all been through and it’s something that shapes us and our future lives as well. This has been captured beautifully by Varun and Nitin and I hope that people will appreciate that!”
Speaking about the film post the screening, Actor Sidharth Malhotra shared, “I think Chashma is a thought-provoking, very nuanced and well-made film. I think it's a very special film made by Nitin. I've known Nitin as an editor and I think he's surprised me with his directorial debut, and it's a film with a lovely heart and a lovely message. Everyone should definitely watch it!”
