Sonakshi Sinha’s career seems to be running on a double track this year. Two of her ready-for-release films, Tigamanhu Dhulia’s Bullett Raja and Prabhudheva’s R... Rajkumar(whatever that means!) to open on two successive Fridays in the last week of November and the first week of December, belong to the same North Indian badland gang-war genre .
With her presence in both and the two trailers being aired simultaneously it is hard to tell one apart from the other.
Now there is another double indemnity looming over Sonakshi’s career. In Bulett Raja she plays a struggler in Bollywood.
Sounds familiar? Yup. She played a Bollywood wannabe star in Milan Luthria’s Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara just a few months ago.
Sheer coincidence? Though when actors are offered similar roles they either inform the directors or opt not to do one of the two roles. Hrithik Roshan has now opted not to do
Tigmanshu Dhulia’s adaptation of Hamlet because he saw it as a father-son revenge saga similar to Agneepath he just did last year.
Tigmanshu jumps to Sonakshi’s defense arguing, “She does play an aspiring actress. Sonakshi plays a girl who has run away from her home in Kolkata to become a Bollywood actress. She’s even willing to do Bhojpuri film. I haven’t seen Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara. So I wouldn’t know how similar the two characters are. But her character doesn’t go through any kind of humiliation or compromise.”
Other established actors who have played strugglers:
Urmila Matondkar in Rangeela.
Farhan Akhtar in Luck By Chance.
Rekha in Do Anjaane.
