Sonakshi Sinha was always clear about wearing her mother's saree on her wedding day; Says ‘It was all in my head and we just brought it to life on that day’

MUMBAI : For several reasons, Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal's lovely but intimate marriage grabbed headlines. The bride's attire was one of them. To refresh your memory, Sonakshi decided to wear her mother Poonam Sinha's wedding saree again for her special day. She even accessorized her bridal look with her mother's jewelry. The actress, wearing an off-white saree with elaborate thread work jewelry and matching pearl and diamond jewelry, looked lovely.

Sonakshi Sinha recently discussed her special day and the reason for her decision to wear her mother's saree. “I was very clear in my head that for my actual signing and the wedding, I wanted to wear my mother’s saree and her jewellery, which is exactly what I did. It was all in my head and we just brought it to life on that day,” Sonakshi said.

Emphasising the trend of a “simpler but beautiful bride,” Sonakshi Sinha shared, “It took us five minutes to choose our outfits.” She also mentioned that her comfortable attire allowed her to fully enjoy her special day. “A simpler but very beautiful bride… That’s going to be a forthcoming trend,” she concluded.

Even though Sonakshi Sinha was the life of the party, her husband Zaheer Iqbal left a lasting impact. For the signing ceremony, the groom looked stunning in an ivory-colored kurta-pajama with embroidery. Sonakshi revealed his style selection process, “We went to his friend, who is a designer, and he saw one outfit and said, ‘Oh, I will wear this.’ We are not that fussy.”

On July 23, Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal, who had been dating for some time and then exchanged vows. The couple posted a joint photo after their wedding where they said, “On this very day, seven years back (23.06.2017) in each other's eyes, we saw love in its purest form and decided to hold on to it. Today that love has guided us through all the challenges and triumphs… leading up to this moment… where with the blessings of both our families and both our gods… we are now man and wife.”

They added, “Here’s to love, hope and all things beautiful with each other, from now until forever.”

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal left for the Philippines on their honeymoon shortly after being married.
