Kolkata: National Award-winning director Srijit Mukherji’s Uma, a poignant tale, defining the uniqueness of the father-daughter bond, a story of hope and unity, is releasing nationally today.
Produced by SVF, the film is releasing nationally in Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Ranchi, etc. on the same day as Bengal – 1 June.

The film is inspired by the true story of Evan Leversage, the Canadian boy suffering from cancer and for whom his village of St. George, Ontario came together to celebrate Christmas two months before the actual festival is celebrated worldwide.
What do you think of Srijit Mukherji?
Uma is about a young girl, raised in Austria, battling a terminal disease, a father struggling to make his daughter’s dream come true and a director with his past haunting him. Uma's father, Himadri makes an all-out effort to take her to Kolkata to fulfill her desire to witness Durga Puja, the most celebrated Bengali festival. How many hurdles and dangers would Himadri have to overcome to be able to bring a smile to his daughter's face?
In the film, Jisshu Sengupta plays the role of the father while his daughter, Sara Sengupta plays the title role. This movie will also mark the debut of Sara.
Other actors who are the part of this film include Anjan Dutt, Sayantika Banerjee, Srabanti, Anirban Bhattacharya and Rudranil Ghosh to name a few.
