SRK praises Aamir Khan's PK

Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan
When Aamir Khan mooted the idea of releasing the trailer of his upcoming next, PK along with Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year(HNY), a lot of curious eye brows were raised. One wondered the reason behind Aamir timing the release of his trailer to coincide the release of SRK's HNY. To clear the air surrounding the issue, Aamir himself conceded that he had done so to piggyride on SRK's popularity. "Shah Rukh's popularity benefits me. By attaching my film's trailer with his film, my film definitely stands to gain," Aamir had said on the eve of his trailer launch. Interestingly, SRK seemed 'ok' with PK's trailer being attached to his film. When asked what he thought about Aamir's decision to ride on his (SRK) popularity to promote PK, SRK nonchalantly replied, "It's Aamir's greatness that he said so. I met him a couple of days back and we spoke about the statement that he made. In this industry, we try and help each other in whatever way we can. I had attached the trailer of HNY with Singham Returns too." SRK, on his part, lavished praise on Aamir Khan's PK. "I have seen the trailer of PK. I found it very good. Rajkumar Hirani is a fine filmmaker and with a cast boasting of Aamir, Anushka and Sushant Singh Rajput, PK should be a good film to watch." King Khan also made it clear that box-office benchmarks are not created by him with the thought of making it difficult for his contemporaries to scale. When asked whether Aamir's PK would be able break HNY's box-office record, SRK said, "We want every film released after HNY to break the record. It will only be good for the industry. We create benchmarks for ourselves so that we can better it ourselves the next time." Spoken like a true King, we say.
