Stories about revenge and reincarnation are not new to Bollywood. But the main protagonist turning into a fly to seek revenge of his death and to save his lady love, is something new here. In SS Rajamouli's film Makkhi is the revenge story of a super fly.
Says Reliance Entertainment CEO Sanjeev Lamba, "Led by the vision of SS Rajamouli and D Suresh Babu, the film has become a huge success in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. We're extremely pleased to bring the film to the Hindi audiences as Makkhi and hope that it will get the huge success it deserves."
In the film, the protagonist, played by Navin Babu, gets killed only to be reborn as a fly to avenge his death and save his lady love.
Says Rajamouli, "Primarily, films can be divided into two genres - those with innovative ideas and the ones with raw emotions. The uniqueness of Makkhi is that it has both. The idea is insanely innovative (the lead character is a 'housefly') and the basic emotion is the rawest of all revenge."
Apart from a gripping storyline, the film also features a special song in which the housefly mimics Ajay Devgn, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan.
Comments Ajay Devgn, who has lent his voice in the film, "Hats off to Rajamouli for his out-of-the-box thinking and making the film with such finesse and conviction, its success is there for us to see."
The film has already been termed a super hit worldwide having released in three languages — Eega (Telugu), Naan Ee (Tamil) and Eecha (Malayalam).
