MUMBAI: Maddock Horror Comedy Universe started with the release of Stree featuring Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee Aparshakti Khurana and some more. The movie was directed by Dinesh Vijan and released in 2018.
The movie introduced the audience to the genre of horror comedy in the best way and garnered a huge amount of love from the audience. Soon there came some more movies like Bhediya starring Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon, Roohi starring Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor and previously released Munjya starring Abhay Verma, Sharvari and Mona Singh.

Then came Stree 2 that took over the audience completely. Though the movie released on 15th August, the makers kept special shows on 14th August for fans starting from evening.
The movie received immense love. On its opening day, the movie collected around Rs 60 Cr. On Wednesday, for the special shows, the movie collected around Rs. 8.35 Cr. It is worth noting that the movie has broken opening collection records of Pathaan, Kalki 2898 AD, Animal and Thugs Of Hindustan.
Here’s an interesting part about the movie – Who knows the character name of Shraddha Kapoor? Well, for a long time now, we’ve been referring to her as Stree but we don’t really know her real character name but now as per a Reddit post, the name has been revealed to be ‘Gayatri’.
The film grossed over ₹837 crore – ₹874.58 crore worldwide, emerging as the third highest-grossing Indian film and the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024, as well as the sixth highest-grossing Hindi film and the eleventh highest-grossing Indian film of all time.
