MUMBAI: Luka Chuppi is a romantic comedy film directed by Laxman Utekar. Produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, it stars Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon and tells the story of a television reporter who cohabits with a headstrong woman.

This week Showters’ Choice contest included eight of the most popular Movies of 2019. Nominated along with Luka Chuppi were Gully Boy, Kabir Singh, PM Narendra Modi, URI: The Surgical Strike, Kalank, Student of the Year 2, and Bharat.
After Luka Chuppi is Kabir Singh. It is a romantic drama film written and directed by Sandeep Vanga. It is a remake of his own Telugu film Arjun Reddy. Jointly produced by Cine1 Studios and T-Series, the film stars Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani. It focuses on the title character, an alcoholic surgeon who goes on a self-destructive journey after his girlfriend is forced to marry someone else.
The movie received 95% Yes Showts right behind Luka Chuppi.
Gully Boy is a musical drama film directed by Zoya Akhtar and written by Akhtar and Reema Kagti. The film is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Zoya Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar. It stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt and features Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Vijay Raaz . Inspired by the lives of Indian street rappers Divine and Naezy, the film is a coming-of-age story about an aspiring street rapper from the Dharavi slums of Mumbai.
Giving Gully Boy tough competition is URI: The Surgical Strike,a military action film. It is the directorial debut of Aditya Dhar who also wrote the film. It features Vicky Kaushal, Paresh Rawal, Mohit Raina and Yami Gautam.
The film is a dramatized account of the retaliation to the 2016 Uri attack. It follows Major Vihaan Singh Shergill of the Indian Army, who plays a leading role in the attack. Both Gully Boy and URI received 94% Yes Showts.
Coming fourth is Bharat and PM Narendra Modi with 93% Yes Showts.
Bharat is a drama film written and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. It is jointly produced by Salman Khan, Atul Agnihotri, Alvira Khan Agnihotri, Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Nikhil Namit and under the banners Reel Life Productions, Salman Khan Films and T-Series.
The film stars Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Tabu, Sunil Grover, Disha Patani and Jackie Shroff. It traces India's post-independence history from the perspective of a common man and follows his life from the age of 8 to 70.
PM Narendra Modi is a biographical drama, directed by Omung Kumar, and written by Anirudh Chawla and Vivek Oberoi. The film was jointly produced by Suresh Oberoi, Sandip Singh, Anand Pandit, Acharya Manish under the banner of Legend Studios.
The film's plot is based on the life of Narendra Modi, the 14th Prime Minister of India. The film stars Vivek Oberoi as Narendra Modi, Manoj Joshi, Boman Irani, Barkha Sengupta, Aanjjan Srivastav, and Zarina Wahab.
Last but not the least is Student of the Year 2 written by Arshad Sayed and directed by Punit Malhotra. It was produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta under the banner Dharma Productions, and was distributed by Fox Star Studios.
A sequel to the 2012 film Student of the Year, it stars Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria and Ananya Pandey. The film follows Rohan, a college student who switches to a better university to rekindle his relationship with his childhood sweetheart who studies there. When Rohan is suspended from that university, he returns to his old college and vows to lead his new team to victory in an inter-college cup against his former college, and thereby becoming Student of the Year.
Along with Student of the Year 2 is Kalank. It is a 2019 Indian Hindi-language period drama film directed by Abhishek Varman and produced by Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala, and Fox Star Studios. It stars Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt. It is a period drama set in 1945 in the pre-independence British era. Both movies received 91% Yes Showts.
