MUMBAI: Bollywood’s one of the most loved actors, Shamsher Raj Kapoor is professionally known as Shammi Kapoor, the actor who has defined versatility with his movies and amazing acting skills, the actor was also known for his good looks, 'neck-breaking' dance moves, and much more. He had garnered a lot of love and appreciation from the fans during his time and until today we love to see the movies of the actor and admire his performances whenever we see them.

The actor began his film career at the age of 22 with several releases in 1953. He worked with the leading ladies of the day like Madhubala, Meena Kumari, and Nutan but big-time success and stardom proved elusive for the next four years.

Shammi had to leave Don Bosco school because the school's principal and his star elder brother (by seven years) Raj Kapoor had a fight over the school's refusal to grant him permission to miss classes and rehearse for his dad Prithviraj Kapoor's play, Shakuntala.

The actor was also known for his loving and caring behavior, he was also known as a brother or few colony girls, yes, you heard right, all the girls living in Shammi Kapoor's lane used to tie him rakhi every year. He used to have at least 10-12 rakhis on his hand.

Shammi Kapoor met Geeta Bali in 1955 on the sets of 'Rangeen Raaten'. They got married in four months and later in the year 1965b she passed away due to smallpox. The star was very sad and he sunk into severe depression. Later, he married actress Neila Devi after four years in 1969 on the condition that she would never have children. Neila kept her promise and went on to become a real mom to his kids Aditya Raj Kapoor and daughter Kanchan.

The late actor was a tech-savvy person, he loved using technologies, and also was having a sound mind towards Technologies, the actor was said to be the first actor to use the internet. It is still not known to many that Shammi was the Founder and Chairman of the Internet Users Community of India, and tried hard to enable the setting up of the Ethical Hackers Association.

His last appearance was with grandnephew Ranbir Kapoor

The actor died on 14 August 2011 as he was suffering from kidney failure.
