At the outset, we have to admit that it is a biased world for men out there. A charge like molestation can end up casting aspersions on the character of a man. The moment you are booked under these charges you become an accused and a criminal in the eyes of the world irrespective of whether you have committed the crime or not. Our accusatorial system makes it mandatory to believe that every accused is innocent until proven guilty but that is not how the public perceives you. The chief of the State Women Commission meanwhile, has already demanded the arrest of Ness Wadia asap.
What's strange to note is the delay from Preity's end in filing the complaint which raises a few questions. If the alleged incident is presumed to have occurred on May 30th, why did Preity procrastinate? A look at Preity's twitter account too reveals nothing amiss. The tweets after May 30 show nothing incriminating and are mostly related to IPL. Was Preity waiting for the game to get over so that she could drop another bomb? There is a strong possibility that she didn't want attention from the game to divert by filing a complaint just days before the grand finale. But these are only surmises. Preity however reportedly claims that she had immediately lodged a verbal complaint with the BCCI.
Meanwhile, the actress issued a brief official statement which read, "This is a very difficult time for me & I would like to request the media to pls respect my privacy regarding this matter. My intention is not to harm any one but only to protect my self. The recent incident has left me shattered and fear in my life. Mr Wadia went to the extent of threatening me with dire consequences, intimidating me of his political clout, connections."
Well, let's wait and watch how the matter develops in the days to come. Mumbai police commissioner meanwhile confirmed that investigations have commenced in the case.
