MUMBAI: Prime Video is poised to unleash what may well become this year’s unmissable television obsession: The Traitors, which will arrive on Indian screens on Thursday, 12 June 2025, with fresh installments dropping every Thursday at 8 p.m.
Expect a weekly jolt of duplicity, strategy and nail-biting suspense as the internationally celebrated reality format receives a distinctly desi makeover.
Guiding viewers through the psychological labyrinth is none other than the ever-witty, sharp-tongued Karan Johar.
The game’s structure is devilishly simple yet fiendishly effective: twenty contestants hole up in a lavish country estate. Three are secretly appointed as ‘traitors’; the remaining seventeen must sniff them out before they’re picked off.
In a world where everyone smiles and shakes hands, treachery lurks behind every corner – hence the show’s wry slogan: “Trust is universal, betrayal is everywhere.”
However, apart from the show, the audience is now focused on something else. At The Traitors event, there was a moment when Karan Johar mentioned about successful shows of Amazon Prime but did not mention The Family Man, a series that clearly deserved a mention.
Now there have been speculations going around that this is because of the long-standing feud between Karan Johar and Manoj Bajpayee. It all started when Manoj Bajpayee’s wife, Shabana Raza was approached by Dharma Productions for a role but she declined the offer. Allegedly this was not taken well by Karan Johar and according to speculations, this was the reason why Karan Johar did not mention The Family Man at the event.
Is this true or just a speculation? Time will tell.
