MUMBAI: Gadar-2 actor Rohit Choudhary, who is co-producing and featuring in Anil Sharma’s next film, Vanvass, believes podcasts are good for sharing information, but not everything on them should be considered true.
He said, “Podcasts are a great medium for sharing stories, experiences, and even entertaining content. However, I believe we should take everything shared in podcasts as entertainment unless it is backed by scientific data and research references. At the end of the day, podcasts are part of the entertainment world, designed to hook and engage audiences.” Earlier, celebrities used to be very guarded about their personal lives, but now they are vocal about it, and he feels it’s a positive shift. He added, “For instance, being open about relationships can remove unnecessary stigma.”
He further said, “I’ve never understood why celebrities used to hide being married—it could take a toll on their spouse’s mental health. However, there’s a fine line; while sharing is good, celebrities also hold a responsibility toward youth and should ensure their content inspires positively.” With everything making its way for public consumption through social media, Rohit feels that what truly needs to remain private will always stay private. He said, “For instance, you won’t see anyone willingly sharing their bank details! That said, we’ve lost some of our conscience in streamlining what’s appropriate to make public.”
“Celebrities, in particular, owe it to their audience to maintain a balance and ensure their public content serves as a positive influence,” he added. Rohit also mentioned that it’s the personal choice of a celebrity to announce their relationship engagements, marriages, breakups, divorces, and even pregnancies on social media. However, he added, “I’ve set my own boundaries—I prefer to keep my family protected, as they are my lifeline. While sharing such news is fine if it aligns with one’s values, everyone should have the freedom to decide how much they want to share publicly.”
And neither does he want his personal life stories to go viral. “I believe in keeping my family life private while focusing on what truly matters. Celebrities, on the other hand, may choose this route as part of their career, which is fine as long as it’s done responsibly,” he ended.
