With an exclamation that he perceived as the "biggest compliment," she asked, "Who is this guy?" She clarified, saying, "Five months ago, you made me believe you’re my father; you can’t be doing this now," in response to his question.

Vicky Kaushal, who views his performance as Sam Manekshaw as his most challenging to date, told an interesting story in an interview with Bollywood Hungama. The late Army chief's daughter sent him a note following the release of the song Tauba Tauba. She was shocked at first and asked him a question. She said that his performance had made her believe he was her father, which made his current role feel even more strange when Vicky asked her to elaborate.

Vicky acknowledged the influence of his portrayal and called this remark the "biggest compliment."

Vicky Kaushal talked about the importance of his performance in Sam Bahadur and the enormous difficulty of playing an army officer who is revered as a legend within the Army. The actor remembered that his parents, who were in Punjab during the 1971 India-Pakistan conflict, had told him stories about Sam Manekshaw. They would talk about how they would gather in dimly lit rooms and listen to the radio for updates from Sam Manekshaw.

Vicky found it both intimidating and exhilarating to take on the role after growing up with these tales. He conveyed his appreciation for working under Meghna Gulzar's careful supervision, highlighting her commitment and diligence all along the way.

Despite fierce competition at the box office for Sam Bahadur, Vicky Kaushal's portrayal of Sam Manekshaw made a lasting impact and solidified his status as one of Bollywood's top actors. Vicky plays the Chief of Army Staff during the 1971 India-Pakistan war, Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.
