Vidya recounted her experience of meeting Shah Rukh Khan during her ‘Chak De India’ days. Describing him as remarkably warm and charming, she said, "SRK is always very warm and welcoming. At the time when we were shooting ‘Chak De India’, he was always very nice. Most of the girls were rather new, young, and had no idea about the camera setup, and he would always be there. One thing that one takes away from him is his generosity, as an actor as well in front of the camera. It's not just about him, it's about everyone around him as well. He believes that a film is never about one person, it has to be about the team."
She continued, "He would always guide us during the shoot, he always did that with all of us which is why we used to call him 'Papa' behind his back. It was a girls’ thing because he was playing our coach and in general, you have so much respect for a coach, he was like a father figure, and also he was very sweet. We would know that he is on the set, we would follow his perfume, and we would be like 'Okay Papa is coming on set'. He always smelt so fresh and nice."
Vidya praised SRK, "His energy level is so high, he doesn't stop. On our day off, he took us girls out one evening. We watched his film, ‘Don’, then partied at a club. Post that, we partied again in our hotel. It was six in the morning and he still had the energy. He wanted to go for breakfast post the party and I was like what about sleep? Being around him is very uplifting. He just brings everybody up with the amount of energy that he has and he exudes. We can learn and take so much from him. Also, he has a great presence of mind, he is razor-sharp. That's what I would like to imbibe from him."
Vidya Malavade will feature in Aayush Sharma’s ‘Ruslaan’. The film will be released on April 26.
