MUMBAI : The excitement for the re-release of Sohum Shah’s Tumbbad is rising to a fever pitch with each passing day. The movie has re-released in theaters and has received an overwhelming response from both fans and celebrities. Amid Kriti Sanon and Gajraj Rao praising Tumbbad, Vijay Varma and Ayushmann Khurrana have also hailed the film.
Actor Vijay Varma recently took to social media to praise the re-release of the critically acclaimed Tumbbad. Varma urged fans to seize the opportunity to watch the film once again in theaters, emphasizing the enhanced cinematic experience that a big screen offers.
Ayushmann Khurrana, calling it “The Cult Classic,” took to Instagram stories and wrote, “The cult classic is back in cinemas,” urging his followers not to miss the experience.
As the days pass, more fans and celebrities continue to praise the re-release of Tumbbad. Not only has the film made history by breaking box office records of iconic re-releases like Mughal-e-Azam and Sholay, but it has also outperformed its original release by collecting ₹1.65 crore on Day 1—3x more than its 2018 debut. Over the weekend, the collections are expected to grow even further, driven by the trend of increasing love and excitement for the film. This positions Tumbbad as one of the most successful re-releases in Indian cinema.
Amidst this historic success, Sohum Shah officially announced Tumbbad 2, sending fans into a frenzy as they anticipate another journey into the haunting world of Tumbbad.
Tumbbad is directed by Rahi Anil Barve, with Anand Gandhi as the creative director and Adesh Prasad as the co-director. Written by Mitesh Shah, Prasad, Barve, and Gandhi, the film was produced by Sohum Shah, Aanand L. Rai, Mukesh Shah, and Amita Shah. Alongside Sohum Shah, the film also stars Jyoti Malshe and Anita Date-Kelkar. The film is not available on any OTT platforms.
