MUMBAI : In a recent interview with Variety, actor Vijay Varma expressed his enthusiasm for expanding the plethora of opportunities for actors of Indian descent in global cinema. "It’s a very good time to make that jump," Varma stated, highlighting the increasing acceptance by international producers and directors who are now actively seeking out the Indian diaspora for actors with varied and diverse range of roles.
Varma's remarks come at a pivotal moment in the film industry, as more projects are recognizing the value of representation and the unique perspectives that actors from different backgrounds can bring to storytelling. The shift towards inclusivity is not just a trend but a fundamental change in how stories are being told on a global scale.
“With more acceptance that is coming in by the international producers, directors looking at Indian diaspora actors, brown actors in a variety of roles, it’s a very lucrative time,” Varma added, indicating his desire to explore opportunities beyond Bollywood. This aspiration aligns with a growing movement among Indian actors to venture into international markets, aiming to showcase their talent in more varied and significant roles.
